Economics Research Experience for Undergraduates

June 26–July 12, 2013

The program offers undergraduates students an opportunity to learn about diverse research topics and methods from some of the University's top economists, while developing their own research and data analysis skills.

The program is presented by the Department of Economics' Undergraduate Program and the Becker Friedman Institute for Research in Economics. It is open to college students working on campus this summer as research assistants in the University of Chicago Department of Economics, Booth School of Business, Harris School of Public Policy, or Law School. It is designed to be compatible with the work schedule of a campus research assistant.

The program includes faculty research presentations held during lunch hours, and two-hour working sessions covering specific research tools and software. These sessions will be offered for students at intermediate and advanced levels. In order to complete the program, students are expected to attend the full program of faculty presentations and selected working sessions.
