Institute-Supported Workshops

Workshops where research in progress is refined through rigorous review are a longstanding University of Chicago economic tradition.The institute continues and expands on that tradition by supporting two workshops reflecting the legacy and scholarly interests of our namesake, Gary S. Becker. 

Becker Applied Economics Workshop

This workshop focuses on the application of core economic tools to address questions that are of interest to researchers and policymakers alike. It meets weekly on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m., in Saieh Hall Room 146.

Workshop in Family Economics

This weekly workshop applies core economic principles to the study of the family. It meets on designated Fridays throughout the academic year, from 4 p.m. to 5:20 p.m., in Saieh Hall For Economics (SHFE) 112.
