Alessandra Voena has been on the faculty of the economics department the University of Chicago since July 2012. She is a labor economist. Her research interests span several topics, including family economics in developed and developing countries, and the origins and the diffusion of scientific knowledge. Prior to joining the University of Chicago, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and she conducted extensive field research in Zambia.
Voena holds a B.A. summa cum laude in economics from the University of Torino and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.
