Joshua Gottlieb is an assistant professor in the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia and a Faculty Research Fellow in the National Bureau of Economic Research. He conducts research in applied microeconomics, specifically in public finance, health care, and labor economics. His work on health economics examines how markets for medical care function in practice, and how government interacts with private participants in these markets. This research has been recognized with the 2015 Kenneth Arrow Award for best paper in health economics and the 2012 National Tax Association Dissertation Award.
Gottlieb completed his Ph.D. in economics at Harvard University in 2012. His research has been published in academic journals such as the Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review, and Journal of Labor Economics.
