2017-18 Health Economics Fellow
Mariano Irace is currently a fifth year PhD student in the Department of Economics at Northwestern University. Irace’s primary fields of interest are industrial organization and health economics.
He is especially interested in studying the forces that drive the allocation of patients to medical providers. In one of his projects, he uses patient-level data to investigate the extent and determinants of persistence in patients’ hospital choices. In another project, he examines whether hospital consolidation affects the allocation of patients between merging hospitals based on the complexity of care required.
Before joining Northwestern University in 2012, Irace received a BA in Economics from Universidad Nacional de Cordoba in Argentina and earned a Master in Economics and Finance from CEMFIin Spain.
