New York University
2017-18 Health Economics Fellow
9/25/17 – 6/9/18
Sunita Desai is a health economist and Seidman Fellow in the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School. Her research investigates the role of government policy in determining firm behavior and market structure in the health care delivery system. She is especially interested in circumstances in which provider’s incentives could conflict with patient interests. In a second stream of work, she investigates the role of information in health care decision-making. She has conducted several studies on how offering health care service price information affects patients’ choice of health care provider.
In fall 2017, she will join New York University’s School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Health Policy in the Department of Population Health with a secondary appointment at the Stern School of Business. Desai received a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in Health Care Management and Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
