The Becker Friedman Institute for Research in Economics at the University of Chicago will seek nominations of candidates for prestigious pre- and post-doctoral positions for the 2014–15 year.
Nominations will be accepted between October 1, 2013 and February 15, 2014.
The Institute offers positions to applicants who demonstrate the ability to generate outstanding research in economics. We are particularly focused on attracting scholars who seek to broaden their research interests while maintaining a commitment to rigorous analysis.
Details
One- to two-year research opportunities will be awarded to promising scholars who are finishing their final year of doctoral studies or who have completed their doctorate within the past three years.
One-year predoctoral positions are available for exceptional candidates during the final year of their doctoral studies.
These programs are designed to offer the freedom to explore promising lines of inquiry without teaching responsibilities. Research Scholars will be uniquely positioned to leverage the rich collaborative environment and unparalleled resources of the University of Chicago while pursuing original work on significant questions in economics.

Candidates should be proposed by faculty under whom they have studied. We encourage faculty researchers to nominate top students and share this opportunity with colleagues.

- A brief description of the current research
- A short statement that outlines the areas of economics and related fields that are of primary interest
- Summary of research project or projects to be explored
