The 2019 Economics Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) offered students an opportunity to learn about diverse research topics and methods from some of the University’s most prominent economists, while developing their own research and data analysis skills. The annual program is presented by the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics’ Undergraduate Program and the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics.

Designed to be compatible with the work schedule of a campus research assistant, REU is open to college students working on campus over the summer as research assistants in University of Chicago’s Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics, Booth School of Business, Harris School of Public Policy, or Law School.

The program includes faculty research presentations held during lunch hours, along with working sessions on the use of specific research tools and software. These sessions were offered for students at intermediate and advanced levels. For successful completion of the program, students were expected to attend all faculty presentations and selected working sessions.

The 2019 REU was held June 24 – July 3, 2019.
