China in Today’s World Seminar Series — China’s New Economic Growth and Inward Out Outward Circulations
This seminar featured a discussion with Tsinghua University’s David Li and Chicago Booth’s Chang-Tai Hsieh on the key dimensions of China’s recent economic growth and its path forward. The conversation covered a range of pressing topics for the Chinese economy, including the dynamics of recent trade friction, efforts to deal with risks in the financial system, COVID-19’s long-term impact, and the ongoing campaigns to reduce poverty and pollution.
About the Seminar Series
China is poised to become the world’s largest economy in the near future. However, such growth is not guaranteed. China faces increasingly complex questions about how to manage the tension between state control and market influence within its own borders, and how to address international disputes that often arise with expanded global influence.
