On April 18, 2024, Milena Almagro will discuss her research “Optimal Urban Transportation Policy: Evidence from Chicago.”

How should cities design transportation policies like tolls and public transit? Professor Milena Almagro quantifies the impact of different transportation policies and applies her approach to the City of Chicago. Among her results, Almagro shows that charging drivers to use roads would reduce traffic and pollution, but increase costs for consumers who travel by car. Almagro also makes suggestions for public transit policies to offset these costs.
