For decades, black box scoring of economic proposals has been the rule in Washington. Policy proposals could not gain steam without a score, and scores have often been nearly impossible to obtain, and even harder to predict. The American Enterprise Institute has unleashed “the crowd” on the problem of scoring, launching the Open Source Policy Center, which developed the first fully open-source modeling suite.

In this talk presented by the institute’s Health Economics Initiative, Kevin Hassett, director of research development for domestic policy at AEI, discussed the benefits of this development, and provided a real-time demonstration of these new tools.
