Many students struggle with the transition from taking courses and solving problem sets to developing their own research projects and seeing these projects from the initial idea to the finished paper or dissertation. In this session, faculty members at different stages of their own careers offered young scholars some guiding principles for navigating the early stages of research.
The speakers shared the advice and recommendations they give their advisees to guide the research process. They outlined research approaches that seem to be effective and pointed out strong examples of early research.
The session concluded with an opportunity for students to ask questions.
