The Spatial Distribution of Employment at Foreign Firms

Foreign-owned firms in the US account for a significant share of employment, and the locations of those firms have evolved over time. In the first figure, the share of workers employed at foreign-owned firms is plotted in 2001 for each commuting zone. The second figure shows the changes from 2001 to 2015.
