The Becker Friedman Institute’s new health economics research initiative is accepting applications for predoctoral fellowships and research grants for postdoctoral scholars. The fellowships are meant to encourage original inquiry that will deepen our understanding of health and health care markets and how they relate to the overall economy.
Fellows will conduct and collaborate in research on the economics of health and health care and interact with a large network of other economics scholars at the institute and throughout the University of Chicago.
Applications are open to students at the University of Chicago but other institutions as well. Awardees from other organizations will be based at their home institution but will likely visit The Becker Friedman Institute during the course of the grant period. The program will offer five research grants per year in the amount of $25,000 per fellowship. PhD students in the final stages of their dissertation and researchers that have completed their PhD less than five years ago may apply.
