Location

Directions and Parking

The Becker Friedman Institute is located in the Saieh Hall for Economics, just east of the main quadrangles and north of the Midway Plaisance on the Hyde Park campus. Our address is 5757 South University Avenue, at the west end of the building. The main entrance is from the plaza between South University and Woodlawn Avenues at 58th Street.

The institute offices are located on the east wing of the building. Administrative offices are on the first floor; visiting scholar offices are on the second floor. Events are typically held on the lower level in Room 021.

The mailing address for the institute is 1126 East 59th Street, Saieh Hall, Chicago, IL 60637. 
Pickups and deliveries should be made at 5757 South University Avenue.

Visitor Parking

Paid visitor parking is available in the garage at Ellis Avenue and 55th Street and at metered spaces throughout campus. Meters are available in the Young, 1155/Harris, New Graduate Residence, and Chapin lots.  See map below for locations.

Most other University parking require a permit during business hours, but are free to the public after 4:00 pm on weekdays and all day on the weekends. There is also a free community lot at the corner of 60th Street and Stony Island Avenue. Free street parking is scarce but may be found throughout the neighborhood.
