Alireza Tahbaz-Salehi focuses his research on microeconomic theory and in particular, how social, financial and economic networks shape economic outcomes. His recent work investigates the microeconomic origins of macroeconomic tail risks, how interconnected financial networks propagate shocks and systemic risk, and the linkages between exchange rates and monetary policy uncertainty. 

Tahbaz-Salehi received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 and his Bachelor's degree from Sharif University of Technology in Iran in 2004. He joined Columbia Business School in 2011 after spending 2 years as a postdoctoral scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
