Coleman Drake’s research concerns the economics of health insurance markets, with a focus on insurer and employer behavior in the individual and employer-based health insurance markets. His recent work has explored employers’ responses to the Affordable Care Act’s Cadillac tax and consumer price sensitivity in the Health Insurance Marketplaces. His dissertation combines geospatial analysis and economic theory to quantify health care access in the individual health insurance market and identify whether narrow provider networks are a result of market failure.
Coleman is currently a fourth year PhD student in health policy and management at the University of Minnesota. Prior to his studies, he spent three years as a project manager at Epic Systems, where he managed the implementation of physician billing software across the United States. Drake received his BA in economics from Capital University in 2010.
