Costas Meghir is the current Douglas A. Warner III Professor of Economics at Yale University. He acted previously as the Head of Department at the University College London from 2005-2008 while acting as co-director for the ESRC Research Centre at the Institute for Fiscal Studies from 2004-2011.

He has sat on the Executive Committee of the council of the Royal Economic Society and was chair of the committee to award the 2016 Frisch Prize of the Econometric Society. From 2001-2006, he was the co-editor of Econometrica. He is a current fellow of the British Academy, the Econometric Society and of the Society for Labor Economics.

His research focuses on econometrics, labor economics, structural models and welfare reform.

He received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Manchester.

Costas Meghir has been named a Ta-Chung Liu Distingished Visitor. This honor is made possible by the generosity of Ernest and Joan Liu, who established a visiting scholar’s post in memory of Ernest’s father, Ta-Chung Liu, an eminent econometrician at Cornell University who channeled his scholarly expertise into public service and policymaking, particularly in Taiwan.
