George Tavlas’ research has focused on international monetary policy, monetary union, and exchange rates.
He currently serves as a member of the Monetary Policy Council at the Bank of Greece. In the past he has worked as a director there, as well as for the International Monetary Fund and the US State Department. He has also consulted for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and served as a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution, where he published Greece’s Economic Performance and Prospects in 2002.
Tavlas was awarded a PhD and MS in economics from New York University. He earned his BA in economics from Babson College.
