James Roberts' research interests are in the fields of industrial organization and applied economics. His recent work has focused on extending current frameworks used for modeling market structure to improve merger policy, mechanism design and our understanding of strategic firm interactions such as entry deterrence.
Roberts is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at Duke University. He is also a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
Roberts earned his bachelor's degree in economics with a concentration in applied mathematics from Davidson College. He then earned his MA and PhD in economics from Northwestern University.
