Jean-Charles Rochet’s research interests focus on banking, finance, and insurance and industrial organization. Specifically, his recent work has explored systemic risk and bank regulation; industrial organization of the banking sector; and dynamic contract theory. He has also examined health insurance and competition among health plans.
Rochet joined the faculty of University of Zurich as a professor and senior chair of the Swiss Finance Institute in 2010. Previously, he was a professor of mathematics and economics at Université de Toulouse. In addition to his faculty positions, Rochet is a research fellow at the Center for Economic and Policy Research and a fellow and former president of the Econometric Society. In 2013, he won the best paper award of EUROPLACE for his work on stock prices.
Rochet earned a PhD in mathematical economics from Université Paris IX.
