Santiago Mosquera is a PhD student in Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics, spatial economics, and labor economics, with a focus on the economic consequences of demographic change. His current work studies population aging in the United States, examining how shifts in local age structure affect employment, wages, migration, housing markets, and regional sectoral composition.
Using large-scale demographic and economic data, his research seeks to understand how aging influences local adjustment processes and contributes to differences in economic performance across places. More broadly, he is interested in how slow-moving demographic forces interact with labor markets and regional economies over time.
