The Becker Friedman Institute for Economics (BFI) at the University of Chicago seeks to place undergraduate students studying economics in substantive summer internships that allow for real world experience and impact. BFI provides funding for UChicago students selected for this internship program through the Kapani Metcalf internship program.
If you are interested in providing a job description (JD) for a summer internship opportunity, BFI will post the JD in our internal HR system targeting undergraduate economics students. BFI will support selected summer internship candidates with a stipend of $4,000 for their summer position, paid directly to the student. Interns will be required to provide a summary of their summer work/project, in coordination with their local supervisor.
Interested sponsors should provide the following information for our on-campus job postings:
• Proposed scope of work or research project that can reasonably be accomplished in a 10-week (average) window in 400 cumulative hours
• Specific economic training or skills (such as STATA programming) required for the position
• The designated intern supervisor, his/her title, and office or department
• Contact information and criteria for applying
• Any other information that would be relevant in selecting a successful candidate
