The Becker Friedman Institute for Economics (BFI) is pleased to welcome 37 new Research Professionals in the newest cohort to the Pre-Doctoral in Economics Program. This highly competitive program offers early-career scholars hands-on research and training opportunities in economics, preparing them for success in top graduate programs and future academic careers.
Working closely with BFI and University of Chicago faculty, Research Professionals (RPs) contribute to all stages of the research process—from managing projects and collecting and analyzing data to creating presentations and editing manuscripts. In addition to their research work, participants regularly attend classes, conferences, workshops, and seminars across campus.
BFI’s Research Professional alumni have gone on to pursue PhDs at some of the world’s leading institutions, including MIT, Harvard, Princeton, the University of Chicago, and UC Berkeley, among others.
We are excited to welcome this year’s cohort as they begin their journey at BFI, advancing rigorous, data-driven research that deepens understanding of the most pressing economic issues of our time.
