Originally from South Korea, Patrick is a Research Professional in the Becker Friedman Institute’s Big Data Initiative. He works with Professor Azeem Shaikh in econometric theory, focusing on shape-constrained inference and partially-identified nonparametric instrumental variable models. He received his B.A. in Mathematics with Honors from Grinnell College. His research interests include high-dimensional statistics, causal inference, and machine learning. Prior to joining BFI, Patrick conducted research and published in empirical operations research, statistical signal processing, causal machine learning, and causal discovery.
