Manasi Deshpande is an assistant professor of economics at the University of Chicago Department of Economics and Co-Director, Ronzetti Initiative for the Study of Labor Markets. From 2015-2016, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow for NBER and and the Becker Friedman Institute. Her research areas are empirical public finance and labor economics, with a focus on the effects of social insurance and public assistance programs and their interaction with labor markets. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute for Technology in 2015.
