DaiGianna Williams is a Predoctoral Research Professional at the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics, where she works with Professors Damon Jones and Yana Gallen. Her research is interdisciplinary, combining the causal rigor of economics with anthropological methods to build a more complete empirical understanding of economic behavior and outcomes. This methodology was central to her undergraduate thesis, which investigated how cultural perceptions influence women’s financial behavior through the design and analysis of mixed-method surveys.

DaiGianna’s research interests include development, behavioral, and gender economics, with a regional focus on West Africa. She is equipped to contribute to projects involving econometric analysis, field experiments, and mixed-methods research. These skills were further honed during her internship at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where she evaluated Russia-Africa trade relationships. DaiGianna holds a degree in Economics and Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has proficiency in Russian.
