The 2026 Women in Empirical Microeconomics Conference will take place on October 16–17, 2026, at the University of Chicago’s David Rubenstein Forum. The conference is designed to foster constructive feedback on research that is still in development, with a particular emphasis on early-stage work and works-in-progress.
Bringing together scholars from across the field of empirical microeconomics—including public, labor, behavioral, health, and industrial organization—the conference highlights research that advances our understanding of economic behavior and policy. Particular emphasis is placed on work that introduces broadly applicable methodological innovations, including advances in data collection, measurement, modeling, and econometrics.
The conference aims to create a collaborative environment where participants can engage deeply with developing research and contribute to shaping projects at critical stages.
Joining the 2026 Women in Empirical Microeconomics Conference as the Keynote speaker will be Janet Currie, David Swenson Professor of Economics at Yale University.
